From September 30 to October 4, 2026, Bucharest becomes a meeting point for contemporary jewelry, art and design as Romanian Jewelry Week returns for its seventh edition.

More than 300 designers from over 50 countries will take part in what has become Romania’s largest international event dedicated to contemporary jewelry, opening on September 30 at the National Library of Romania with an official reception and an exclusive preview of the fair.

This year’s edition unfolds as a layered portrait of the discipline today, bringing together 17 international collective exhibitions, from the Global Creative Graduate Showcase and Slovenia Jewelry Week to Precious Collective, Saudi Metalsmith and the International Amber Association. Beyond ornament, the focus is increasingly on jewelry as a medium for narrative and cultural expression. As ROJW curator and co-founder David Sandu puts it, the contemporary jeweler is no longer simply a skilled maker, but a receiver of ideas and a transmitter of beliefs, with each piece becoming a form of personal and artistic representation.

The 2026 program also expands the conversation beyond the exhibition hall. The inaugural Romanian Jewelry Week Summit gathers international curators, jury members and industry professionals for a focused dialogue on the evolving relationship between jewelry, art, design, technology and new creative practices.

Among the edition’s most intriguing projects is CLOVA SATELITTLE™ Gathering, where miniature art and contemporary jewelry meet through works by artists including Raul Bratu, Anca Vintilă Dragu, Smaranda Isar and Mona Vulpoiu, while Dessinez-moi un bijou invites visual artists to explore jewelry as another extension of their artistic vocabulary.

Elsewhere, long-term partner AlbAlb presents a special showcase of Kalita’s “Fairy Flowers” rings, delicate works poised between sculpture and emotion, while Future Generation by Banca Transilvania continues its support of emerging Romanian talent through scholarships, visibility and entrepreneurial education. A new section, Growing Gems, turns the spotlight on stone cutting itself as a conceptual and creative practice, highlighting the increasingly blurred boundaries between craftsmanship, material research and artistic experimentation.

At the National Library of Romania, the central ROJW exhibition runs from October 1 to 4, with the main contemporary jewelry fair taking place on October 3 and 4, surrounded by panels, talks and special events throughout the week. Highlights include conversations on local histories of contemporary jewelry, the role of technology in the creative process and the emergence of lab-grown crystals as new design materials, followed by the official awards ceremony at ARCUB on October 1 and the Romanian Jewelry Week Summit on October 2.

With thousands of pieces on view and a program that moves effortlessly between craftsmanship, experimentation and cultural dialogue, Romanian Jewelry Week 2026 confirms jewelry’s place far beyond the realm of adornment. It becomes architecture in miniature, a carrier of identity and one of the most intimate forms through which contemporary design can speak.
