Luxe vs. affordable makeup
Today I wanted to share several products that can be used to do a glowy make-up by comparing luxurious with affordable products that provide similar results.
I got inspired by a few bloggers I love, who spoke about these products, and made me want to try them. Therefore, I think it’s a very interesting concept and it’s important to have in mind that quality has nothing to do with the name of the brand or with the price but with its component.
That being said, I’m leaving you with the review.
1. Eye shadow palette
- Urban Decay – Naked Heat (52€)
- Rimmel – Spice Edition (11.50€)
First of all, they’re both really easy to blend out on the eyelids and you can barely see a difference. Plus, the pigments of the Rimmel London palette are really impressive, you don’t need to go over it ten times. Good deal.
2. Foundation
- Estée Lauder – Double Wear (49€)
- Revlon – ColorStay (16.50€)
Double Wear from Estee Lauder and Colorstay from Revlon foundations have the same natural, matte finish. When applying, you can adapt the coverage to your needs.
Whether you want to cover up imperfections or give a flawless look to your skin, these will do the job smoothly.
3. Concealer
- Nars – Concealer (31.50€)
- Maybelline – Fit Me (5.20€)
The packaging, the liquid texture, the lasting, the final result and the nozzle are exactly the same. I honestly can’t tell a difference. Can you?
4. Powder
- Fenty Beauty – Pro Filt’r Powder (31€)
- NYX – (12€)
These two powders both smooth and blur the texture of the skin. The NYX Powder is a little bit more yellowish, but you can’t tell the difference when you apply it on the skin. I recommend both, they’re really good!
5. Lashes
- Benefit – Roller Lash (27.50€)
- Maybelline – Cils Sensational (10€)
These two mascaras are impeccable, you can see that both have a curved brush which is really good to give length and volume to your lashes. Love them! Now, depending on your budged and love for a certain brand, you can order the more expensive one or the affordable makeup product on this list!
6. Bronzer and contouring
- Marc Jacobs – O!Mega Bronzer (43€)
- Wet’n’Wild – Contouring palette (6€)
There are many similarities between these two powders. The Wet’n’wild is very creamy but the shade is a tiny bit warmer than the Marc Jacobs’. Have you tried them yourself?
7. Highlighter
- Becca – Opal
- Wet’n’Wild – Precious Petals (6€)
These highlighters are very much alike, the Wet’n’Wild is really amazing given the price. It is highly pigmented and offers this really cute glow.
On the other hand, the Shimmering Skin Perfector (shade Opal) is more of a golden highlighter. This pressed highlighter from Becca is a best seller for the brand.
8. Lips
- Kat Von D – Bow’n’Arrow (20€)
- NYX – Sandstorm (8€)
The Kat Von D matte lipstick is beautiful but it’s way to matte even if it lasts and has no transfer. On the other hand, the one from NYX is more creamy and less matte.
I hope you enjoyed this review and you’ll get to test these products!
